There are a plethora of keyword suggestion tools available today. Some cost a pretty penny and others are free. So is it really worth paying for a keyword suggestion tool such as WordTracker or KeywordDiscovery when you can get Google’s AdWords suggestion tool and others at no cost?
For the most part, I say no. It’s not worth it. However, if you work for an agency or use one of these programs on a daily basis, you may want to consider a purchase. The free versions seem to limit the amount of information you can receive, usually by cutting off the number of results. This can be a major pain if you use these programs intensively.
The real reason, however, that I don’t like to pay for keyword suggestion tools isn’t because there are free ones available. It’s because I have difficulty comvincing myself to purchase an SEO tool that can give me extremely inaccurate information. In many cases, you can search for the same term in multiple keyword suggestion tools and get completely different results for each (and I mean completely different). For this reason, I feel the best solution is to use a few different keyword suggestion tools, compare the results and make your best judgement from the information given.
